Love, Community, and Silken Grace: Ronnie and Sarah\u2019s Story of Strength and Support at Prescott<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For 21 of their 23 years of marriage, Sarah and Ronnie Holesworth have been part of the Prescott family. Their journey together\u2014rooted in love, resilience, and community\u2014has become a beautiful example of what it means to belong, to grow, and to thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The couple first met playing Special Olympics Floor Hockey. \u201cIt feels good,\u201d Ronnie says. \u201cI\u2019ve got a good family with her family, and they\u2019ve been there through thick and thin with me. Sarah is great. I couldn\u2019t ask for a better wife.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But life hasn\u2019t always been easy. When Sarah first came to Prescott, she was feeling isolated and depressed. \u201cMy self-esteem was really low and I was really afraid to work,\u201d she shares. \u201cI had some rough times and got bullied in my job. I decided to come to Prescott to learn some new things.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That decision changed everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPrescott has helped me a lot,\u201d Sarah says. \u201cMy confidence is much better. I\u2019m not as scared to ask if I need help and I can talk to my friends and staff too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her peers at Prescott have been key to her journey. \u201cMy friends give me support a lot,\u201d she explains. \u201cThey\u2019re always saying to me that things will be OK and they\u2019re glad I\u2019m in their lives. They know where I\u2019m coming from. It\u2019s hard to explain, but if I\u2019m feeling left out or sad about something, they understand\u2014because they\u2019ve been there themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Sarah is thriving. She works at Pinkie\u2019s Thrift, helps seniors through Prescott\u2019s Home Services program, and lends her skills to the North End Baking Co. caf\u00e9. Ronnie, who previously worked in commercial cleaning until the business closed, now delivers fresh produce to seniors through Prescott Home Services. This fair-wage employment provides not just extra income, but purpose, pride, and even the means to spoil their beloved cat, Silken Grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI love being with Prescott because we are all a family,\u201d says Ronnie. \u201cI have good things to do and I\u2019m helping out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Ronnie was hospitalized earlier this year, the value of community really hit home. \u201cThey were there for me,\u201d he recalls. \u201cThey looked out for me. They were concerned every day, asking how I was doing\u2014and they couldn\u2019t wait for me to come back.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then, Ronnie and Sarah have been focusing on their health together. \u201cWe\u2019re doing a weight loss journey right now and we\u2019re doing really good at it,\u201d Sarah says. \u201cPrescott staff give us ideas about what would be good to drink or eat, and help us with cholesterol and things like that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fresh air, walks, and shared exercise have become part of their routine. \u201cIt helps deal with stress and our health,\u201d Sarah adds. \u201cI think a lot of people enjoy that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019re also dreaming bigger. Sarah is exploring her interest in computers, sparked by her work on Prescott\u2019s Online Auction. \u201cIt\u2019s complicated but I know I\u2019ll get there! I\u2019d like a computer job\u2014something straightforward like inputting data.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She\u2019s also looking ahead to Prescott\u2019s new downtown community hub: Progress Place. \u201cI think it\u2019s really cool that we\u2019re going to be going downtown. It\u2019s going to be so much fun\u2014I can\u2019t wait.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, they\u2019re building a future rooted in belonging, connection, and mutual support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSarah does amazing with the customers and makes really good tips,\u201d Ronnie says proudly. \u201cI\u2019m proud of her. She does a really good job.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In their words, in their work, and in the quiet strength of their love, Sarah and Ronnie remind us what community can be: a place to be yourself, to grow, and to know you\u2019re never alone.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
